Superb opaline glass sugar bowl by Mount Washington Glass Co., c. 1880s - 1890s. The piece has two transfer printed scenes of lovers, each with a Boucher signature. These are after Francois Boucher (1703-1770), a famous French painter/artist who lived during the Rococo period.
The sugar also has raised enameling that is hand applied, and a silver plate rim and handles. As it sits, the piece is an open sugar. The lid is missing.
There are areas of paint fading (see photos).
