Cold-painted Austrian spelter Orientalist sculpture modeled as a Middle Eastern man kneeling on a woven carpet in prayer .
It measures 2-7/8” high to the top of the turban x 4-7/16” wide x 4-7/16” deep. The bottom is signed with an embossed circular mark consisting of a laurel wreath & crown: TRADE MARK / CORONET / REGISTERED / AUSTRIA.
The casting details are excellent and are comparable with that of an Austrian bronze: the man’s face, hands & clothing are well delineated as is the oriental carpet (the rug is embossed with fine detail in the floral field, the borders and the fringe). The cold paint decoration is softly shaded.
Condition: There are no dings, dents, bends, breaks, touch-ups or repairs. Some light uniform age wear to the original cold-painted factory paint, most in the bottom of the pan to his right.
